Beds came into existence roughly 10,000 years ago where people started using primitive beds.
Then came the Roman empire where first luxury bed was introduced. It was decorated with gold or silver and the Mattresses were made with reeds, hay wools or feathers .
Then the Romans discovered water beds. The sleeper used to sit in a tub of warm water until he became drowsy and then would be shifted to another with a mattress.
In the 16th century, Louis XIV owned 413 beds as his favourite thing was to stay in bed. He had spacious mattresses.
Then in the 18th century, iron beds and cotton Mattresses were introduced and in the 19th century, foam mattresses were made familiar in the market. In the late 90’s, non flippable mattresses were introduced and became common and queen size mattresses came into the market.
This was the history of Mattresses and how they evolved with time. In today’s era, there is a wide variety of Mattresses available from which a consumer can choose according to his own needs and comfort. Hence in this century, people can choose their preference of the mattress.
